Overview

One of the most popular womens snowboards in the Jones lineup, if not THE most popular, is the Jones Twin Sister. An all-mountain freestyle twin that floats, jumps, and carves. Jones’ 3D shaping (i.e., spoon tech) is present in the nose and tail, providing ease of entry in and out of turns as well as glide through deep snow. Turn ease and float are amplified even more with the camrock profile, via the rocker in the nose and tail. Making the Twin Sister forgiving and playful.

All that play is then balanced out with camber between the feet for pop, edge hold, and stability. The edge bite is then increased further by Jones’ traction tech—additional contact points for grip on ice and hard-pack snow. This creates an extremely well-balanced and versatile snowboard that can carve, ride park, and take on pow days. The mid-flex reinforces the board’s versatility, while the Freeride/Freestyle inserts allow you to change binding placement for a more set-back stance on those surprise pow days.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with the Twin Sister. It’s a great choice for intermediate riders and up who enjoy riding a bit of everything. A stable yet playful quiver killer.

PROFILE

3d shaping

  • 2.0 - Moderate 3D Contour Base - 3D Contour Base for ultra fast glide & fluid turn intiation.

  • Sintered 8000 Base - Super durable material made from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) & carbon. Base is easily repairable, highly wax absorbent & crazy fast.

  • 2 x 4 Insert Pattern with Freeride / Freestyle Pack Inserts – Allows option to center or set back your stance on the sidecut.

  • Short progressive sidecut for quick turning. The sidecut radius is incrementally increased at the outer ends as the edge reaches the contact points. Gradually increasing the sidecut radius towards the contact points delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition.

  • Control Core - Dual-density full wood core featuring a 2 to 1 paulownia to poplar stringer ratio that keeps the core light and super damp.

  • Biax Fiberglass - A two-direction, dual-layer, stitched fiberglass laminate that provides a fun, forgiving yet snappy ride.

Bio Resin - A bio-based epoxy made with 27% plant-based carbon instead of petroleum-based carbon. The organic raw materials used to make bio-resin are co-products or waste products of plant-based industrial processes. Bio-resin requires 33% less greenhouse gas emissions to produce than conventional epoxy.

  • Recycled ABS Sidewalls - Jones improves the sustainability of their snowboards by using only recycled plastic.

  • Traction Tech 2.0 - This edge tech features three bumps per edge at the front binding, board center, and back binding. The middle bump is slightly larger than the binding bumps for better grip.

Oversized recycled edges - for added durability and improved sustainability.

Factory Tuned - De-tuned at the tip & tail so you can go right to the mountain.

  • Eco-plastic topsheet - Bio-plastic topsheet that is made from Castor beans. This eco-material is ultralight, chip/scratch resistant & water/snow repellent.

  • Wend Natural Wax – Jones boards are factory waxed with WEND natural wax.

Forever Flex - A manufacturing process that helps stabilize the flex of the board for its lifetime.

Rider review

This board became my new daily driver for the 2024/2025 season. I had outgrown (both literally and figuratively) my Arbor Swoon (Rocker), and it was time to upgrade. The very first thing I noticed about this board is its stability. Compared to my Swoon, the Twin Sister immediately felt more stable. I could feel the stiffer flex and camber working together to keep me tracking straight (it didn’t feel squirrelly or loose when flatbasing or going fast).

I loved laying down large carves. I felt confident in the edge control whenever I initiated a turn. I was locked into a smooth arc, and I easily ankle-steered into the next turn with minimal effort. So much fun! This immediately made me want to go faster—so much so that I found myself putting on the gas. Soon, it was all gas and no brakes, slaloming/carving down the groomers. This made for an incredibly satisfying day on the mountain.

On bumpy, uneven snow, I never felt bucked around or out of control. For the most part, it glided over the top of rough terrain. Now, it's not a dedicated freeride board, so I did have to pay attention and get lower, but in the end, it got me through any rough patch I came across. While navigating the rough patches, I did come across pockets of deeper snow. Unfortunately, it wasn’t knee-deep powder, but I was able to see the potential this board has for powder riding. In these pockets, I found that leaning back (even if slightly), the nose of the Twin Sister popped right up. And that Spoon tech (3D shaping) worked its magic and kept me gliding on top of the snow without nose-diving—all of this without having to put too much effort in. I did have my bindings set back slightly, which helped with float, but even centered, I think this board could handle the average pow day.

As far as playfulness/freestyle capability goes, I had to put a little more effort into nose and tail presses (especially in comparison to the Swoon). However, it is still very doable. As soon as you press past the camber zone and into the rocker, you can really settle into the press. Additionally, I never felt the board to be catchy or hooky when doing flat-ground spins. The rocker and 3D shaping in the nose and tail had my back and prevented any edge catches. This is when I really noticed the torsional flex. The torsional flex felt true to the mid-flexing design—it was responsive when I needed it to be, but also malleable when I wanted. This lends itself to tree riding, where if you know how to turn, you shouldn’t have any issues in the trees.

I’m not a big jumper or jibber. I mainly stay on the small terrain park and natural features on a groomed run. That said, on the small jumps, I do feel like the board has enough pop to get you up in the air. And going back to this board’s stability and catch-free nature, the takeoff and landing felt clean and supportive. You could totally take this board beyond the small park—it definitely won’t hold you back. Although I don’t hit rails, I think it would handle jibbing just fine with the directional twin shape and forgiving design. But it’s not a noodle. Definitely has a middle-of-the-road flex. So it wouldn’t be my first choice as a dedicated jib board—but it could handle a few laps in the park.

It’s hard to say who this board isn’t for, mainly because it’s meant to be extremely versatile—a sort of jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none. I think a beginner could get away with this board if they’re confident and more athletic. It could be a fun option for a more advanced rider looking for a playful and forgiving ride. The ideal customer is an all-mountain rider who wants to shred a little bit of everything (like me).

I would recommend it to beginner/intermediate riders who are looking to take their riding to the next level. The Twin Sister’s stability, edge control, and versatility make it a great option for those looking for a quality upgrade in equipment. Jones packs their boards with some incredible snowboard tech, and you can feel it as soon as you get off the lift. It’s a little higher priced, but you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.
