Overview

David Carrier Porcheron’s pro-model, the YES PYL UNINC DCP XTRM, is a freeride snowboard that enables riders to “Pick Your(their) Line” in any terrain. With a tapered, directional shape, and stiffer flex the PYL UNINC floats in powder, carves, and charges with ease. The Tapered Underbite technology incorporates 2 additional contact points located at each binding insert pack. The width of the snowboard is reduced at each of these contact points, bumping inward to create that narrower tail. A progressively tighter sidecut is incorporated into the Tapered Underbite as well, improving the ability to carve hard, hold an edge, and really spring out of turns.

The PYL UNINC also comes with a directional camrock profile, slight rocker in the nose, camber between the feet, and a subtle rocker in the tail. This improves float in deeper snow without sacrificing edge hold, stability, or pop. The rocker zones in the nose and tail create an even smoother carving experience.

These features are then paired with a slightly stiffer than middle-of-the-road flex to provide optimal stability, maneuverability, and snap. So, if you want to rip groomers, boost side hits, explore trees, and hunt powder pockets at your local resort, then this is the board for you!

Pick Your Line this winter with the YES PYL UNINC DCP XTRM.

profile

  • SINTERED - crafted by fusing tiny polyethylene particles under heat & pressure, creating a porous, durable surface. Known for superior speed & wax absorption, these bases are favored for their high-performance capabilities in various snow conditions.

  • 2x4 Insert Pattern.

  • 3 radial side cuts that work in tandem with the Tapered Underbite. At each Underbite location, the side cut tightens, going from 8m's (nose) to 7m's (middle), then 6m's (tail).

This makes it easier to stay on a straighter line when steering off the front foot as the larger sidecut radius in the nose will track straighter.

When you want to rail a turn, you can smoothly transition to the tighter sidecut in the middle, and then the tightest sidecut off of the tail. This will "hook" and sling you out of a tight turn when needed. Additionally, this will help you avoid "washing out" as well.

  • Poplar/Paulownia - crafted from 50% Poplar & 50% Paulownia. Poplar offers lightweight consistency & flex, enhancing agility. Paulownia, even lighter, ensures weight reduction while maintaining strength. This blend creates a lightweight, responsive, & durable snowboard, perfect for various riding styles & conditions.

  • Triaxial Fiberglass - Adds torsional stiffness to the board, enhancing its overall stability & responsiveness. Snowboards with triaxial fiberglass tend to have a more precise & controlled feel, making them suitable for riders who prioritize stability at higher speeds, improved edge hold, & better performance in challenging conditions.

  • Tapered Midbite – Tapered Midbite blends the response of a narrow waist width with the stability of a wider nose & narrower tail for powder float.

The design steps a single section of each sidecut inwards between the insert packs. Simply put, rather than a gradual taper from nose to tail, there are 2 key taper points. This gives you the benefit of a wide nose (more float), but the thinner waist lets you transition from edge to edge quicker.

  • Forever Flex - a manufacturing process that helps stabilize the flex & rocker profile of a board for its lifetime. Boards finish the first stages of production slightly overbuilt and then are “broken in” using a specialized machinery that mimics extreme riding use. By flexing the fresh board fibers & epoxy at the factory the materials settle into their final arrangement within the board layup much the same as if you rode the board for 20 days. This process helps narrow production tolerances so the board you buy has a more accurate specified flex & rocker profile that will change less as you ride it more.

Rider review

I’ve been riding the 2024/2025 YES PYL UNINC DCP XTRM this season as my powder, freeride deck and had a blast on it. It’s definitely on the stiffer side, which delivers great stability at speed and in choppy terrain. Honestly, it feels like there’s no speed limit on this thing. The overall rigidity carries through to the torsional flex but still has enough give to be dynamic when needed.

👉 Torsional flex refers to how much the board can twist along its length — key for edge control.

The large amount of taper is very noticeable and gives the board a surfy feel — you can swivel the tail around easily on steeps, in trees, or when slashing powder. The coreless tail adds to that feel by softening the tail flex just slightly. The small amount of rocker in the nose and tail helps the board float in deeper snow and skim over bumps rather than plow through them.

I rode this board on at least four deep powder days, and it didn’t disappoint. The narrower, shorter tail sinks into the snow and lets the nose rise for float and glide. Powder is where that surfy tail feels most at home — you can slash and turn with surprising ease for how stiff the board is. And when you add speed, the board’s true colors show: jump off rocks, stomp landings, spin off cat tracks all feel effortless.

👉 Tapered boards make it easier to float in deep snow without burning out your back leg.

The camber and tapered underbite work together for excellent edge hold. I always feel locked into my turns on hardpack and icy terrain. You can feel the “bumps” on the edges — part of the tapered underbite — grabbing the snow. It took a minute to fine-tune, but once I adjusted my stance to put those contact points in my preferred spot, it felt much more predictable when the board would engage.

👉 Tapered underbite adds grip by creating slight indentations in the edge.

The pop on this board stands out. The stiff flex and camber boost you off side hits, rollers, and drops. While the slight tail rocker helps you engage the snap. When carving, keep your weight firmly on the front foot to get those pencil-thin carving lines, as the tail tends to want to “swivel” or “wash out” if you have too much weight on your back foot. That’s due to the board’s taper and sidecut variation, which makes sense given its surfy ride style. But once you lean into that front foot, the board locks into a turn and gets up on edge at speed with confidence. Carving felt so precise and stable that I even used this board in a banked slalom race.

👉This board rewards aggressive riding and good technique, especially when carving at speed.

Landing and riding switch was easier than I expected. Sure, it’s noticeable having the larger nose behind you, but the twinish shape and slight rocker profile make it doable for short switch runs. The main issue is the extra effort it takes to get weight onto the nose while riding switch. You can fix that by moving your stance more centered, instead of set back, depending on how much switch riding you plan to do.

👉 “Switch” means riding with your non-dominant foot forward

I’d describe this board as a surfy freeride board with a freestyle spirit. It can carve, charge, and float in powder, and when you get it up to speed, you can’t resist the urge to jump and spin. I’d recommend it to advanced riders and up, looking for a slightly playful freeride powder board — something to take out on deep days but still have fun on when the snow gets tracked out.

I wouldn’t recommend it to riders who just want to cruise, as they likely won’t enjoy the effort needed for the stiffer flex. Same goes for freestyle-focused riders, as I think it’ll feel a bit too directional. But if you like to ride hard, get off-piste, and get off the ground, check out the YES PYL UNINC DCP XTRM (jeez, they gave it a long name though).
